Solis Delivers First UK Commercial & Industrial Energy Storage Project at RJAH Hospital

Solis, a global manufacturer of solar inverters and a leading provider of energy storage solutions, has announced that its first commercial battery installation in the UK is up and running at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt (RJAH) Orthopaedic Hospital. The project, delivered by ZLC Energy, combines large-scale solar generation with advanced battery storage technology to significantly reduce energy costs, lower emissions, and optimise how energy is being used at the site.



The installation features six 109kWh Solis PrimePower commercial batteries, each connected to a Solis 50kW hybrid inverter. All working in parallel, the system is providing more than 600kWh of storage capacity, allowing the hospital to make better use of the solar energy being generated.


Instead of the excess solar being limited during the day, energy can now be stored and used later during high demand periods or overnight; helping lower electricity costs while strengthening energy resilience across the site.


The project highlights the growing appetite for commercial battery storage across Europe, particularly in environments where solar energy is often overproduced and unable to be used immediately, or where reliable, uninterrupted power is essential.

“The wider renewable energy system we’ve delivered here will now generate between 2.5 and 3GWh of electricity annually — enough to offset approximately 75% of the hospital’s electricity usage — reducing carbon emissions by approximately 600 tonnes annually.”

Designed for Commercial Energy Storage Applications
